Small Changes: Butter

In the quest fo r a healthy body I began to st udy nutrition and learned a lot about what the body needs in order to heal it self and keep it well. This is a new weekly feature I plan on doing for you. Small Changes are little things that you can do to live better. Some may be physical changes, but most will be dietary. The first one that I want to start with is butter vs. margarine .  Butter is a natural product, organic or conventional , it's made from ingredients that God gave us. Margarine. Well, margarine is not. Some go so far as to say it's only one molecule away fro m being plastic. That said, this is not something that you want to ingest. Back in the 80s there was a big uprising to get people to switch from butter to mar garine, they said it was heart-healthy. Now the opposite is being shown (which only makes sense, because it is a processed food and butter is a natural p roduct). Look at the ingredients on this t ub of Country Crock:     I'm n...

Dutch Hill Chocolates

There's nothing better than a bite of chocolate. Once in a while, after the man and I have our Friday lunch date, we'll stop in a t Dutch Hill Chocolates (a t the top of 17th Street) for dessert. We each pick out a few and then e njoy on the ride home. It's one of the little things that we like to do together.  It's a small sho p, but has just enough variety for each of us to find a few goodies. This is the only chocolate shop where I've ever seen wintergreen candy. As in, chocolate covered wintergreen cream. It sounds different because it is different. One of the man's fa vorite s. Here's the little box we got today. The one on the top right corner? Yeah, that's a Black Forest Truff le. You can be je alous. It was amazing. Every day deserves a little chocolate.

Shwings

Saw these in a store the other day . Anyone want to predict that kids all across the country will soon be wearing these attached to their shoes? I think they could have thought up a better name for them.

Favorite websites

It's been a while since we've discussed our fa vorite websites. Here are a few of my favorites: My Fitness Pal a free online weight loss/ maintenance site. I've been on there since January 2012 and it's been so helpful. eBay well, no explanation needed Pinterest so much fun in one place should not be allowed Accuweather local weather, as in local local. Mineral Make-up Tip

My si xteen year old suggested that I place a cottonball inside the lid of my Lemongrass Spa mineral make-up to keep it fro m spilling into the top when the lid is on. What a great tip! This can be used for any p owdered cosmetic. Do you have any helpful hints to share?

What's missing?

What's missing from this picture? That's right, the own er of the purse. She's in the fitting room. Remember my post ab out stupid things ? Let's add this one to the list.

Songs in ads on TV

I find it more than a little disconcerting that songs from the 80s are now being used as j ingles in ads on TV. The worst is th e Chase (?) remake of Footloose . I mean, come on, that's like messing with a piece of history. How could they do that? How co uld Kenny Loggins allow that ? It's just not right. I've hear d I'm Only Human by The Human League. That one doesn't bother me as much because I never liked that song. I a ssociate it with some things that I'd rather not remember.
