Little Treasures

My husband and son visited my parents this week while I spent time organizing and cleaning the house. They came home with this little Bible that I didn't remember but had my name and scribbles all over it. Apparently I'd given it to my neighbor when we were younger because he didn't have a Bible. His mom saved it all these years and recently returned it to my mother. It made my heart happy.   I used to write my name anywhere I could and writing on the edges of the pages of a book was fascinating to me. I still remember how fun it was.    I had a fantastic sticker collection in the early 80s. It was the best. I decorated this Bible with some, but sadly none of my scratch 'n sniff ones made it in there.   Apparently I decided that the end of Genesis needed an extra verse so I added #29 "Thou shalt not lie."    Not sure if I thought that adding a verse would keep me out of heaven, but I guess I tried to remind Jesus that I thought He was #...

Funny Things

Saw these at a yard sale and thought to myself how boring this sounds. The Serious Christian. I'd rather be a real Christian. A Christian with a sense of humor. A Christian who isn't offended over every. little. thing. A Christian who enjoys life. The song title in its entirety: "When Your Hair Has Turned to Silver I Will Love You Just the Same". Good to know. This sign in a hotel room from a trip last summer. Though  tempted, I did not indulge in the hand towels at $15 each. And I really needed some new (read: used by many random people for who-knows-what) hand towels.

This sign is actually a couple years old. I'm in an online group who was having a contest for the best-worst yard sale sign and when I saw this I knew I had it in the bag. I whipped the car into a parking lot so fast that I scared myself. Pulled up next to the post and took the picture. I am sure you realize that I won the grand prize (a Starbucks mug) for my find. Yerd Sail? Really? I did not almost wreck the car order to take this picture. This was taken after the fact and I lamented on FB that I'd missed the event. Still in mourning over that. Do you remember the ads in the back of magazines when we were little? I always secretly longed for the fascinating ant farm. Almost as much as I wanted those crazy sea monkeys.  Lighten up and laugh a little today.

Sign at Wegman's when the door stopped working. Pushing is such a huge inconvenience in America in 2015 This spider web screen door. Why?  While shopping not long ago I observed a woman abandon her armful of goods in search for a shopping cart. The Trader Joe's employee was on top of things as he hurried to clean up her pile. She made it back in time with a cart. Lesson here: never shop without a cart. You may think you're going into the store for one thing, but you've been to Target haven't you?

Came home to find this in the mail from the Franklin Mint. It's a little creepy to me that junk mail has our names on it. That it's already personalized. I'm so weirded over this I can't even tell you. Why would anyone choose Insect Creations as the name for their store? The name alone caused me to not take another step closer to this business. Nope. Over the weekend we parked on one side of an elementary school where there was an event open to the public. The street we wanted to visit was on the other side of the school so we just walked through the building to get there. I had to go while I was there and used the girls room. It's been decades since I used the girls room . The sinks and toilets were so low. It cracked me up. This tee shirt. That's all. You're welcome.

This is a review on Amazon for a lice treatment kit. This is why spelling is important. Many years ago I sold for a direct sales company based in Chicago. They had a warehouse sale and I purchased this at the sale in 2001. It was a flat piece of fabric. Brought it home and a lady in our church added the back fabric and a handle and I used it as a tote bag for several years. I then tired of it and stuffed it and hand-stitched it shut along the top. This was at the auction we attend. I picked it up and recognized my uneven stitching. I made this pillow. So weird to see it there. And no, I did not purchase it again. Anybody need a walk? Long before I married I worked at a small family-owned business. The owners of the establishment had a clock like this hanging above the front counter. One day she told me that she loved to give these as wedding gifts and I can honestly tell you the threat of receiving one of these is one reason I didn't invite them to my wedding. I didn...

Saw this while we were out and about one day. Cracked us up. This bag at a yard sale. "Handmade. Never used." Yeah, wonder why?
